Trogir (greek: Tragos) was founded by greek colonists from island of Vis (Issa) in 3rd century B.C. It's considered to be the best preserved romanesque-gothic city in Europe.
Most important historical monument is ofcourse the Trogir Cathedral and it's western portal made by master-sculptor Radovan. City itself is situated on coast of Kaštela bay, between island Čiovo and mainland, conected with bridges with both. It will astound you with monuments, charming small streets and art collections with many masterpieces.
Old city core is protected by UNESCO World Heritage list.

OUR LADY OF MILK

There is a legend about two churches on current location, Our Lady of Milk and Our Lady by the sea, but in fact it's the same church. Only the name changed thru history. It's dated back to 11th century and today it's best preserved early romanesque church in Croatia. In 13th century it saw upgrade, as a memory and token of people of Trogir on naval victory on battle with rivaling city of Split. Battle itself was fought on the sea just in front of the church, about some land on the island of Čiovo that king Bela IV. gave to city of Trogir which was ofcourse disputed by people of Split.
Church got it's name because of young mothers praying for milk, because in that time there was no substitute for feeding babies and loss of milk could have been fatal to a newborn child.
In this historical church, first service was held by bishop and duke ("ban") Petar Berislavić. Three years ago, on May 20th service was reintroduced, on the day when Petar Berislavić died (1520.) defending Croatia from Turkish (Otoman) invasions.
